This summer, the Reef-UKC network brought creativity, climate thinking, and collaboration together in an unforgettable workshop — and the result is now live!

During the Reef-UKC Summer Workshop, members joined forces in a fun, hands-on storytelling activity to co-create a comic about Frostwick — a typically chilly UK town suddenly facing an extraordinary heatwave. Working in small groups, participants imagined how the community might respond, adapt, and eventually thrive in a changing climate.

🌀 The Story of Frostwick

Part 1: The Heatwave Hits Frostwick
The sun blazes over Frostwick. Ice creams melt. Tempers rise. Amid the chaos, a local professor proposes a Cooling Summit to explore renewable energy solutions.

Part 2: The Great Cooling Summit
Our four main characters (a professor, an industrialist, a politician and, a community member) gather — but instead of unity, debate breaks out: Should Frostwick rely on renewable-powered cooling or let the market decide?

Part 3: The Cooling Trial
Pilot projects spring up across town. Some work brilliantly, others baffle everyone. Yet, the trials spark public curiosity and awareness about sustainable cooling.

Part 4: The Unexpected Twist
An energy crisis hits. Cooling becomes expensive, and frustration spreads — until the community unites, demanding real, equitable action.

Part 5: The Cool Future of Frostwick
A year later, Frostwick is transformed. Renewable systems hum quietly, trees line the streets, and citizens beam under the town’s new slogan:
🪧 “Cool heads + warm hearts = a Net-Zero future.”

This comic captures not only Frostwick’s fictional transformation, but also the collective imagination and insight of Reef-UKC members — turning technical discussions about renewable cooling into a vibrant story of community resilience.
